the Bookan invitation    how it began    seeing   |   new perception   |   line drawings

These plants are not as we are used to seeing them, "alive" in full bloom and colour, yet there exists a life energy in the grey darkness of their death and decay.

I see life in their death. I see life in the characters that emerge from them. I also see life in their transformations after death.

When I photograph a plant and return to it later, most often it is not the same. Some-times it has changed or transformed into something very different. Sometimes familiar characters have changed their positions or their expressions, and I watch and listen as new stories emerge. There is continual change in death, as in life.
